Nearly all large ships have a indoor and/or outdoor pools. Some even have water slides. Facilities vary from ship to ship. Details can be found in the cruise line’s brochure.

Many ships offer extensive spas. They provide a complete menu of relaxing spa and massage services-the perfect reward after a hard workout. Anyone for a loofah scrub?

Activities On Board

What will you do today? There are so many choices on your cruise. You may choose to participate in as many (or as few) activities as you wish!

Each day, you will receive a complete schedule of shipboard activities so you can plan your time accordingly. The choices are many and may combine fitness, fun and prizes. These activities are a great way to meet fellow guests; play bingo, board and card games; lip synch to the Oldies, participate in deck sports, pool activities, theme parties or a wacky golf tournament; go sunbathing or swimming or you can simply retreat to a quiet spot and do nothing at all!

In the evening, you'll find a wide variety of music and entertainment throughout the ship. From award-winning production shows to headline entertainers or string quartets, there's never a dull moment. Other typical evening activities may include dancing, casino gambling, crew shows, and movies in the theater.

Youth Programs

Many cruise lines offer youth and teen program for kids and teens, ages 3 - 17. Each ship is staffed with a professional Director dedicated to making sure kids and teens of all ages have a great time. Some of the fun-filled activities include bingo, arts & crafts, special parties and much more. If you have children, an activity schedule for each age group will be delivered to your stateroom each.

Activities are typically offered in different age groups for kids (ages 3 – 5, and 5 - 8), tweens (9 - 12) and teens (13 - 17). Younger children must be signed in and out of the sessions by an adult. The programs for the older children have an open door policy, which means participants may come and go as they please. They will be supervised at all activities. Since the children’s programs change and vary from one cruise line to another, check with your travel agent for additional information regarding the cruise line in which you are interested.

Communications at Sea

Most ships offer direct ship-to-shore telephones in each stateroom. If you would like, you may place a call to friends, relatives or business associates during your cruise. Calls (including those to 800, 888 and 877 numbers) will be billed to your on-board account. Current rate charges are posted near your cabin telephone. Similarly, those at home may contact ships by direct dialing the ship’s number. Get your ship’s phone number before leaving home. Many cruise lines provide cards with an emergency contact phone number that you may distribute to friends and family should they need to reach you while on your cruise.

Facsimile service is also available on board. Please contact the ship’s front office for cost and other information if you wish to take advantage of this service. Additional communication instructions can be found in your travel documents or on board the vessel in your cabin information directory.
