Shipboard Check Cashing Policy

Traveler's checks may be cashed at the purser’s or hotel desk. Typically personal checks cannot be cashed and cash cannot be drawn from your shipboard account. However, many ships do have ATMs, which dispense US dollars, available for your use.

Shore Excursions

All cruise lines offer an extensive program of shore excursions to enhance your cruise experience. Please be aware, however, that although every effort has been made to present you with the best available facilities in the countries visited, many of these countries may not have amenities such as air-conditioning and toilets in buses.

The shore excursions department will help you make the most of your time in port and provide you with the best transportation and guide services available. Options may include sightseeing, flightseeing, golf, SCUBA and adventure tour packages. A shore excursion brochure is often included with your travel documents so you may familiarize yourself with the tours prior to embarkation. Check your daily program for information on shore excursions and port lectures.

On certain cruises, such as Europe cruises, tours can be pre-requested by completing and submitting the form found in your shore excursion brochure. On other cruises you can book your tours through the Shore Excursion Office once you are on-board. Note: Many shore excursions have limited capacity and may fill up quickly. If possible, pre-reserving your desired excursions is recommended.

Please note: Typically no refund or allowance can be made to any guest who might, for any reason (including medical), cancel, deviate from, or otherwise not utilize all of the services scheduled to be provided by any excursion. Guests on any excursion who elect to leave the automobiles or motorcoaches in the shopping area, or elsewhere, must provide their own transportation, at their own expense, back to the port. Remember, if you depart from your tour, it is your responsibility to get back to the ship in time for departure. If you should miss the ship, it is your responsibility to get your self to the ship’s next port of call.

Tipping Policy

Exceptional service is the hallmark of the cruise lines. Because you are their guest, it is their goal to make sure you receive the finest service possible. Although tipping is not required on the lower priced cruises it has become an expected policy. On the moderate priced cruise lines, a tipping may not be expected, but is allowed. In the higher priced cruise lines, tipping may be prohibited. You may tip anyone you want except on the cruises where it is specifically prohibited. Normally you will tip your cabin steward, waiter, bus boy, wine steward if you used their services or the Maitre d’ if they provided you service. If you used the spa or beauty salon services, tipping may be appropriate.

Remember that this tipping not required/prohibited policy does not extend beyond the ship. In terminals, airports, ports of call, and on special shore excursions, you should tip at your own discretion.
